Tim, well he's just one easy going guy. Patience and kindness through and through. An absolute pleasure to work with. Tim original idea for a fish wasn't exactly what he got. A little over planning in the tail cost him about 3-4 inches on the board. But he took it in stride as a learning experience. Most people who never touched a planner before are either scared of it or over agressive. One of the saying in the shop for all beginners is "Do not fear the Planner". Tim heard this a few times, and still has to be reminded sometimes when planning a new 10'3" that he is working on now. |

Although a beginner, Tim was able to work with resin tints, cut lapping, and acrylic pinlinning. These are more advanced techniques than most first time student get even after they have made a few boards. Mistakes were made, by Tim and by me, but learning to correct mistakes is a big part in surfboard building. Although the board didn't come out exactly how he invisioned it, I think he enjoyed the learning process. I also know Tim will continue making boards in the future. I was a pleasure working with you Tim and I can't wait to see the next set of boards. G. |
