Cure times can vary with ambient room temperature.

Special shipping service is required for this product. If you live in NJ, NY, Or PA please see Shipping Services Page for details. Otherwise please see our Shipping Page for additional information.

Catalyst Ratios for polyester Resin Mixtures:

Lamination Coats:

Generally Lamination (Glass) Coats will utilize a 1% standard mixture ratio. This is dependent on ambient temperature.

Lamination Coat Example: 1 Pint of Resin : 10 cc's of MEKP at 70-80 Degrees F. (About 15 minute set time)

With Tempurature changes you may want to change up your ratios: This varies on your skill level and size of board

  • 40-50 DegF : 1.5% - 2% MEKP
  • 51 - 65 DegF: 1% - 1.25% MEKP
  • 66 - 80+ DegF: 0.75% - 1.0% MEKP

Hot Coats:

Hot coating with Polyester Resins also require a surfacing Wax. Generally Hot Coats will utilize a 2% standard mixture ratio. This is dependent on ambient temperature.

Lamination Coat Example: 1 Pint of Resin : 20 cc's of MEKP at 70-80 Degrees F. (About 8-10 minute set time)

With Tempurature changes you may want to change up your ratios: This varies on your skill level and size of board

  • 40-50 DegF : 3% - 4% MEKP
  • 51 - 65 DegF: 2% - 2.5% MEKP
  • 66 - 80 DegF: 1.5% - 2% MEKP
  • 80+ DegF: 1.0% - 1.5% MEKP

MSDS:

Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide

A substance (commonly referred to as catalyst) added to a polyester resin in specific quantities to allow the polyester to cure (harden). Measure accurately and mix into resin thoroughly. The importance of proper catalyzation can not be over emphasized. Over or under catalyzation will cause a variety of problems. Follow Resin Manufactures recommendations closely.

DANGER!

Oxidizing Material. Keep away from heat sparks or fire. Do not store with food or drink. May be harmful or fatal if swallowed. Vapors may be harmful if inhaled. Severe eye irritant. Wear chemical splash goggles, protective clothing and rubber gloves when handling. Do not store in metal containers. Store below recommended temperature in original container. Protect from all sources of heat or ignition. Do not add hot materials. Never add resin to the peroxide. Do not contaminate with any incompatible materials; especially readily oxidizing compounds, acids or accelerators. Contamination may cause a violent decomposition, which could result in a fire or explosion. Over catalyzing a resin can produce a violent polymerization that may cause a fire or injuries. Catalyzed resin that is not properly handled can develop an excessive amount of heat, which could result in a fire or injuries. When this container is emptied, it must not be reused. Dispose of empty containers or spills in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations. Dust generated from the sanding or finishing of certain types of hardened can spontaneously combust if stored or disposed of improperly. Consult your resin manufacture for proper dust storage and disposal instructions. Read the Material Safety Data Sheet before using. Avoid splashing. In case of eye contact, Immediately flush with plenty of water and then go to a physician. May cause blindness. For skin contact, wash off with soap and water. If swallowed, contact a physician immediately,
